Johnsons Blue Geranium shows it's true colors

This plant is one of my favorites. I had this in New Brunswick when I lived there over 4 years ago and vowed that it would be in any new garden I planted. It starts off as a mound of green (very uniform) and then starts producing beautiful blue/purple flowers that seem to dance in the wind. Here is the progression so far of the Johnsons blue Geranium since I bought it last year.

Here is the plant last spring (2007) when I bought it. It was showing off it's blooms and I was so happy that I had gotten one that resembled the one I had planted in N.B. (they can get more purple sometimes then blue) and I didn't want that.

Here it is this year the end of May. As you can see, it mounds very nicely where ever you put it. It will eventually get a bit leggy in mid summer, but that's what I like once it's blooming.

A side view

The first bloom of Spring 2008. I ended up sitting on my bench in the morning and seeing this lil guy peeking out.

Today...lots of blooms showing and many more buds ready to open to the sun.

New growth

My Rodie started off with a rough beginning when planted 2 years ago. It seemed to be dead last year with it's dark brown, crunchy leaves. Then it was like a miracle as it showed some blooms last year beyond it's "deathly" look. I was impressed with the fact that what I thought I would have to rip out of my garden and throw in the compost was in fact alive. This year, it has grown some new leaves and is looking like it will be JUST fine. It only produced two blooms this year, but it's only a baby and will show it's splender in a future spring for everyone to admire. I'm just happy that it's not dead. LOL

Here is the first "Scarlet wonder" bloom for Spring 2008, and might I add..one of only two. LOL

Here's a view of the whole plant with it's one red beauty.

All the other "buds" (which I thought would open to show some more red flowers) ended up looking like this for about a week.

Then to my surprise, they produced more greenery like this.

Then finally...a picture of the whole plant today shows all the new green leaves that each of the so called "Buds" produced this year. I guess it thought it needed to get larger before showing off it's beauty first. LOL

Pansies pansies every where!

The colorful rainbow of pansies in my garden and containers. I love the diversity of them..some with bright yellows, some with dark purple, light purple. I really enjoy these.

Some new gardening "eye candy" for ya.

I am loving the garden this year. Everything is filling out nicely and I am waiting patiently for my lilies to pop open. I have pink, red and yellow ones that really are fabulous when they start blooming. Right now I have the baby blue eyes, snow in the summer and phlox (creeping) that is the "eye candy". Thanks for stopping by.

My Garden is "Springin" up

Oh wow...what a slacker I am for not getting on here sooner. I know that some of us are the same, when the sun is out...so am I. LOL I can't be inside on a nice day. I want to post some new pictures of my garden for Spring 2008 and my new addition for the house. I wanted people to know my love of primitives on the inside as well as the outside of my house. What better way then to apply a barn star. Prim lovers will see that "sign" of love just as a diver sees the "diver" sticker on one anothers vehicle. LOL Here are some recent pics for you all to enjoy.

This is a view of the garden from my bench I sit on in the mornings or afternoons drinking my tea.

The start of the yellow loosestrife...it will grow another foot or so and then start showing off it's yellow slender. It's the bell of the ball mid summer into the fall. Then they die down and my black eyed susans take over.

Here is my "Johnston Blue" Geranium that I just adore. I had it in New Brunswick when I lived there and knew I had to have it here too. It mounds up really nicely and then starts shooting off blue/purple flowers throughout the summer.

New Primilicous Dining room set for my birthday.

Hubby asked me what I'd like for my birthday this year, it's coming up...the big 35. I know...usually it's the big 40 or the big 50...but any age when you're getting older and are past the age of 20 is the "BIG". LOL I told him nothing (thinking in my mind that he'd fish around a bit more before then and then maybe buy something from my favorite Prim store in town. Which would have been just as nice...but he went a bit further and totally shocked me. He informed me that he had an idea and that I'd need to be on board with it. I agreed and anxiously awaited what he had in mind. One of the Furniture stores in town was having no interest for 5 years and only the taxes down to start. Equal monthly payments. Then he reminded me of the request last year of eventually getting my new diningroom set that would seat more then just our family of four. I was SOOOOOOOO excited. I jumped at the opportunity to get my dream table. So off we go to the store and after an hour of mulling over all the tables... I came home with THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm in love. LOL It seats 8 comfortably and it also has yet ANOTHER leaf to add if you want to feed an army. LOL Thanks Baby...Happy birthday to meeeeee!!!!

Another day....another.....painted creature?...LOL

Today was yet another "indoor day" here at the Perry's. The girls didn't even get dressed until after lunch and I didn't even get UP until after 10:00am. What a lazy day. BUT.....that made it a great day to finish off another painted thing for my daughters "reptile room". She is expanding now (with ideas of her own) to amphibians, bugs and such. It's going to be a regular "RAINFOREST" in there. LOL So my husband had this idea for her fan. It has small white blades that were just screaming to painted on. He found a reference for me of a tree frog and VOILA...."Hang on baby". The frog is sitting on the blade (looking up at it) and Hannah just laughs to see it spinning above her head. Here's the pics. Now onto more cuddly things to paint....my youngest daughters room is "Kittyville" and she wants more of the purring, Kneading and playful creatures painted...hey, it's going to be hard to go from the scaley to the furry...but I'll give it my best. LOL
